Mr. Seider is Of Counsel to Parker Shumaker Mills LLP and has substantial experience in the areas of trade and transportation law, cargo loss and damage, carrier and forwarder legal liability and marine insurance coverage. Mr. Seider mediates trade and transportation disputes in all modes of carriage.
Mr. Seider's practical background has helped him as a practitioner and instructor in marine, aviation and transportation and transportation law since 1968, having served as crew on a variety of vessels and then having lectured at the Maritime Law Association, the Insurance Educational Association, the Marine Underwriters of Southern California, the National Association of Marine Surveyors, the Air Transport Association, the Transportation Consumers Protection Council and the Global Maritime and Transportation School at the Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy.
Mr. Seider graduated from UCLA in 1963 and obtained his law degree from the UCLA Law School in 1967, graduating with a Masters of Law from the London School of Economics in 1968.
Mr. Seider is a member of the State Bars of California and Nebraska and is admitted to practice before all State and Federal Courts in California , the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal and the United States Supreme Court. He has tried dozens of cases and secured many judgments by trial, motion and arbitration. He has acted as the principal attorney in numerous reported decisions of the California Courts of Appeal, the United States District Court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal. Mr. Seider has also served as an expert witness and consultant in the areas of multi-modal transportation and marine insurance.
Mr. Seider has authored numerous articles and monographs for public and private seminars, law firms, legal departments, bar associations and industry groups. (See Publications).
Mr. Seider is the past Aviation Editor of the Association for Transportation Law Logistics and Policy and is a member of the Carriage of Goods, Marine Insurance, and Recreation Boating Committees of the Maritime Law Association of the United States.
Mr. Seider is an active member of his Malibu community and has served as board member and President of the Malibu Jewish Center & Synagogue, a board member of the Export Managers Association of California and served nine years as the Malibu representative to the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy Advisory Board.
